I was raised Catholic and exploring Unitarian Universalist of Oakton. What do you like and dislike about this congregation? |
UUCF is a very large congregation for UU. It does the large things well, but has trouble with the smaller support things. Look at the RE curriculum and see if you like it, UUCF does RE very well for almost all children. It has many activities that give it the semblance of community, but because the membership is spread all across the county, it is difficult to maintain. If you like a service that is roughly the same format as Protestant churches, but without the g-d thing, you will like it. The music program is stellar. There are many different activism opportunities too. It is a pleasant campus.
It really depends on what you are seeking in a faith community. |
In this former member's opinion UUCF lost a superstar when Rev. Laura Horton-Ludwig moved on in 2017. In some respects if you like University Without Walls educational/social offerings you will love UUCF. Whatever your area of interest you could find people who shared it. Excellent music program, including the sound technicians whose hard work seamlessly contributed to the programs. Beautiful campus. If you prefer a smaller congregation check out Accotink UUC in Burke. About a quarter the size of UUCF. |
