DC playgrounds, playing fields and dog parks closed effective immediately

From DC DPR:

“Effective Immediately -ALL DPR FACILITIES including playgrounds, PARKS (dog parks), athletic fields, COURTS, & all other outdoor spaces are CLOSED until further notice.”

I thought this was the rule last week?

Whatever is DC needs to get out and lock the damn parks up.

I'll confess that we've been going to our park and playing baseball away from everyone else and the handful of other people who've been there have been doing the same.

But the enclosed dog park has been just bonkers whenever we've been there though I'm not surprised as the dog owners in my Ward 3 neighborhood live in their own special entitled bubble.

And lots of people are driving up to our park with MD plated cars and getting out with their dogs and tennis rackets, perhaps because in MD they've actually locked their facilities up?

The county governments in the outdoors-obsessed SF Bay Area are telling people quite clearly now to stay out of parks, recreation areas including trails, dog parks, and playgrounds (All closes now) and basically to stay home except for infrequent trips to get food and medicine. Yet DC dithers and winks and nods at restrictions.

DC land conservancies open to the public have now closed their grounds also.

They should be more public serving. With all of the parks closed, where can people take their kids and dogs now?

Or walk in the street since traffic is significantly reduced.

You should be subject to arrest if you’re outside at this point

This is why we can’t have nice things...
If people could maintain appropriate diistance instead of congregating in outdoor parties, we could still have the parks open.

People were having picnics with other families, playing basketball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. no social distancing...what do you expect? I bet these are the same people now complaining about not being able to get instacart or amazon fresh deliveries.
