OR that Capital
Is almost all private school families with lots of money to afford ivies and privates. You don’t know whether the girls on other ranked teams have high grades or not. Nor do you know what their family circumstances permit. You draw many elitist conclusions.
oh, so now it's skill and not riches and private schools?

you are right I don't - or maybe I do? - Capital and Pride have a lot of similar players with similar families that happen to be friends - I didn't want to mention the name of the other club but it is quite obvious at this point and you are failing to see the obvious

Capital and Pride players are not even on the same planet skill-wise.
. oh, so now it's about skill and not rich parents and private schools that get you into D1 lacrosse?

Or maybe just grades and private school matter?

a very small percentage of families can even afford ivies. They don't give any merit money or athletic money. Private school matters in the sense that they have been paying private school tuition for years and can afford to keep on doing it. $62,000 a year with no aide is a stretch for most.
If you make under $200,000 there's incredible financial aid need based scholarshipw at all the Ivies. If less than $65,0000 full ride need based scholarship.

These families probably aren’t making sub-200k and going to DMV private schools; you keep reposting this. We get it, just not relevant comparing to other merit/athletic $ options (and other schools also have aid).

Not diminishing that salary, but it is not a lot in DC area and certainly unlikely for DMV private school kids and club lax players.

SStop posting about how expensive Ivy League schools are as if it's some new revelation. My player was never going to choose UNC, BC, or Syracuse over the investment in an Ivy League education; that is my personal opinion. That is exactly what I did with my player, who had serious interest from one of those schools and a high skill level that could handle the level of play at any top school.

Capital Orange and Pride are quite comparable. Just like Orange has some players that could be interchangeable on Blue I would say the same goes for Pride. Unfortunately for the girls at Pride the Capital brand/network will help the Orange girls more than what Pride can do for them

Exactly and I don’t think your player was alone. Which was exactly the point that was being made recently on this thread.

Doesn't sound like she had much choice in the matter. Hope you, I mean she, is enjoying it.

If the player’s family makes over $200,000 and they want a full athletic scholarship or a stacked merit scholarship, they should not be targeting Ivy League schools. It is really that simple. They should target other schools that offer substantial scholarships and merit awards.

I have been an avid poster here and am enjoying the conversation but what I am genuinely confused about is why someone would think someone else is lying. If your kid committed to an Ivy they very well could have had interest from other top schools. I truly don’t think it is that far fetched that people would insinuate someone is lying about it. What incentive is there for them to do that?

It was all her choice! If she had really wanted to play at UNC or Syracuse, we would have supported her. However, we value an Ivy League education and feel that it is the best investment for her future. It was her dream school! Those schools offer their own awesome and unique aspects as well. We just preferred Ivy, and she did not need the scholarship due to our 529 plan.

Two FCPS or Arlington teachers can have a combined income of 200,000. That isn’t exactly ivy with no financial aide kind of money. So, back to the original statement, there is not financial aide at ivies for the majority of people.

The point that was trying to be passed on was that the top 10 players on the team all could have gone each to UNC, BC, NW (and Stanford for that matter). That all 10 of them could've gone to any of those schools if they wanted. It just so happens that they all spurned each one of those schools.

That's not the same as a girl or 2 or 3 getting some interest.

This place is exhausting. Not one person has insinuated that a parent is lying about their kid and interest. Yet.

what I am curious about what percentage of players commit to a school that might have been beyond reach without lacrosse and then struggle to keep up academically. I imagine that it has to happen.

And interest is not an offer …
