Folks, just because we are "house arrest" doesn't meant that rush hour lane reversals stop happening.
Canal road and Clara Barton pkwy are still two lanes inbound in the morning and two lanes outbound in the afternoon. North of Chain bridge there is no south bound traffic on CPB after 3pm. Same is true for canal road south of Arizona avenue. so when you morons leave Fletchers boat house at 3pm you must travel south on Reservoir road or turn north on Canal road. DO NOT TRAVEL SOUTH ON CANAL ROAD after 3pm. Actually I think the signs say 2:45 to allow time for traffic to clear. Read the signs. And to the driver yelling at me for traveling north in the left lane at 320pm yesterday before arizona ave. I appreciate you serving our country since you were in your BDU's, but you need to read the signs when you enter canal road at fox hall road. As military personnel, reading comprehension and following orders is important. Lives depend on it. Oh and will someone please pick up the capital bikeshare/jump bike off of canal road. who the F%&$ leaves a rented bike on that road. Yes I am an emergency essential employee so I have to be at work otherwise I wouldn't be on the road. |

As someone who lives in DC proper I still think the "direction of travel in a lane changes based on time of day" system is not safe or intuitive at all.
Fortunately DDOT is starting to get rid of them as they repave the roads. |
OP here. I don't disagree about them not being safe or intuitive. but I have seen more people screwing this up in the last 10 days, than in the previous 10 years. They'll never get rid of canal being reversible. the rich folks in foxhall, berkley and palisades won't allow the great unwashed masses traversing their little slice of heaven.. |
Huh? Why would DC homeowners/taxpayers want to make it easier for MD commuters to drive in on Canal Rd? |
they would rather the great unwashed masses BE on canal road, and CB parkway rather than MacArthur blvd. since if canal road goes single lane. overflow traffic will go to macaurthur... |
