Research purposes only- what is the range of hourly pay for a daycare assistant? Does it vary at an in-home daycare vs. center?

Minimum wage.

Min wage at centers.

In-home it depends on their relationship with the business and the owner.

Center director in DC, non-profit: our assistants make between $17-18/hour.

Depends where you are. One center offered 14.50 another one offered 18.50.

My in-home daycare in Fairfax VA pays them $11 - $12 per hour.

Depends on what other benefits the center is providing, how much they pitch in towards medical insurance premiums, how much paid vacation they offer, etc.

Good point about benefits, PP. We offer health insurance (employee contributes 10%), small life insurance policy, 5% no match necessary retirement contribution, 3 weeks annual leave, 2 1/2 weeks sick leave. It's still not nearly enough to compensate the hard work they do each day.
