| We've been paying our nanny to stay at home for a few weeks now. I've been waiting for further guidance on some of the new federal legislation passed and whether it would apply to nannies. E.g., the Families First Coronavirus Response Act that provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave and allows employers to be reimbursed 2/3 the paid salary through a tax credit. It seems that is only eligible for employees that are home caring for a child who is out of school and not for an employee who is part of a vulnerable population and must self isolate. I'm hoping someone has done more research or has more expertise in this than me and has figured out what would apply to a nanny situation. Thanks! |

That provision is for companies with at least 50 employees but less than 500.
Have your nanny apply for unemployment. |

There are exemptions for companies with fewer than 50 employees but that doesn't mean it wouldn't apply in this situation. According to several nanny tax companies, nannies and their employers are eligible for this. |

| Everything that I have said says that you can get a tax credit. Since your “nanny business” is not a profitable business, it is of no value to you and you won’t get any reimbursement. |
