| How are swimmers practicing these days? Is no one doing laps unless they have their own private pool? |
| My competitive swimmer has now been out of the water for three weeks. It’s tough. |
| How about gymnasts? How are they doing? |
| They are not. |
| No swimming. Mine have been encouraged to get what cardio they can and given some muscle training workouts. |
|
We have own private pool but it will be only open in early May. His coach promised to send basic workouts (privately, the team doesn’t offer it).
But flip turns are not possible due to the pool shape and depth. At the moment my swimmer is just running 5k 5 days a week and does strength and stretches dryland routine. The club offers online workout sessions with coaches just to stay in shape and communicate with the group |
| Not a thing. When he finally gets back in the pool it is not going to be pretty. |
|
Parents, did you swim competitively yourself? If so, how much backward do you think our swimmers will regress after 3-4 months out of water?
It would be interesting to hear your experience. It’s probably similar to sport trauma time off |
| E are thinking of buying an endless pool |
| Lock these swimmers up! |
| Land training workouts from USA swimming |
| Our coaches are sending suggestions for daily dryland workouts and challenges, but my kid has zero interest in doing them and prefers frequent walks and bike rides. It's going to be a rough transition back to the pool whenever the time comes. |
Our coaches are doing Zoom/FB live workouts for strength and flexibility and they also emailed out a three page workout schedule. |
| I basically have to force my swimmer to do dry land exercise. Her attitude has really gone down hill. Out of everything, swimming is what I miss the most! |
Yes, same here. A lot of whining about dryland. Swimmers often dislike other sports, and teens don’t like to work out with parents |
