Or maybe you always hated them?
"Dance like no one is watching" -- Why? Why must I dance like no one is watching? Wouldn't I dance better if others were, in fact, looking on? "Be The Change You Want To See" -- WTF? How can I "be the change"? If I want a crosswalk in front of my daughter's school, should I lie down and be that crosswalk? And even if I accept this on a non-literal level, I just don't see how it helps. "Well-behaved women rarely make history" I hate seeing this attributed to Marilyn Monroe when it's Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. And, actually, many well-behaved women make history, but anyway. |
Not a quote, but an expression: "It is what it is."
Not helpful at all. |
"What goes around , comes around" |
You clearly missed the point on the "dance" quote. |
A woman I know has "Light, Love, and Laughter" on her email signature. Although I'm all for all three, reading it is totally meaningless pablum. |
"Live Strong", and its many variations. |
. I think that you are missing the point of what "well-behaved" meant to Ulrich. |
I like this and I use it all the time. |
Me too! I think it's strong expression in a funny way. |
Actually, it's been my work motto this year. |
"At the end of the day" "...channeling...." Both of these originators should be shot. |
"It's all good." Because whoever is saying it really thinks it's not. |
"Everything happens for a reason."
Grrr. |
agree a popular saying for those who like to make excuses |
I use it all the time too. Not because I think it is a "strong expression", but because I hope to slightly irritate people by using it. It works! |
