Maryland Stay at home question

We live in DC and our nanny lives in MD. Does the new stay at home order allow her to continue coming in? I know NY and CA had carveouts for childcare, but i am not seeing it in MD's order except for friends, family and pets.

MD had already closed all daycares, except for those providing care for essential employees. Not sure how this applies to a nanny situation though.

If you're an essential employer then your nanny should be able to come to support your working. Write up a paper saying that your employees deme your essential and in order to perform your job fun soon you need childcare so the nanny postion is also essential.

Unless you're essential and NEED the childcare, I think you should obey the spirit of the order and let her stay at home.

I work at a University that was deemed essential (as are all universities) by the DC Government (which is why we were permitted to stay open with all the closures in DC). So as of now, I am an employee of an essential DC BUsiness. So I guess this still allows for her to provide childcare.

OP here - yes, I have to work and have no other childcare and no other support. So I wouldn't be able to do my job without her. Our school is required to stay open by DC Gov't so I have to continue working (remotely).

You're working remotely? You can do that and watch your kids like the rest of us. You're selfish making her come in just so things are more convenient for you.

NP, you’re not special. Many MANY of us are “required” to work with children at home.

The law states that this is an essential activity "Caring for a family member, friend, pet, or livestock in another household
or location, including, without limitation, transporting a family member,
friend, pet, or livestock animal for essential health and safety activities,
and to obtain necessary supplies and services"

I am assuming that providing childcare falls under this? Even it if it is your job and not just a friend.
