... is the life lesson I hope my kids get from this time period. If we as a country had been able to stockpile tests, masks, and ventilators as soon as we heard about Covid-19, we would have been able to reduce the spread and feel optimistic about handling the cases that required hospitalization. And lower the length and extent of social distancing and the resulting economic impact.
My kids take after DH who is not a planner like me (he thinks I’m crazy for booking summer camp in Feb - well I guess he was right this year!) so hopefully I can drive this lesson home. So much pain and suffering due to poor planning. |
You’re so much better than your husband and kids. Good job! |
OP there are pros and cons to almost every personality trait. Something that seems like a negative in one context is a positive in another.
It takes all kinds of people! Also, my sister is ridiculously type A, but when she was a child she almost didn't graduate high school. I wouldn't judge your kids yet at this age. Oh and BTW, the negative of your type of personality is highlighted here: "so hopefully I can drive this lesson home. So much pain and suffering due to poor planning." That sounds... charming. |
That is such a dumb expression. Sometimes planning is great. Sometimes, like now, it leads to canceling trips and camps you booked months in advance and losing money on them. Sometimes, like now, there is so much uncertainty that just riding things out and seeing what happens is the best course of action.
FWIW, it was not a lack of planning, but an unwillingness to trust experts and execute on the plans that have led to trouble. |
We would not have been able to stockpile as there was x available and everyone is currently in need. The manufacturers are moving as quickly as they can. Sitting around criticizing makes you look like an idiot. |
You sound like a total pain to live with. Good thing your kids take after their father. |
Not true at all. We absolutely could have planned and locked this down Read what the GM CEO wrote today. Trump failed and yes this including death is on him and his lack of planning, foresight and general human decency. |
But hindsight is 20=20. Too much planning often leads to wasted resources and inefficiency. I'm not saying we shouldn't have planned better for this, but there is plenty of planning for things that never occur. Planning also exacts a cost. Anyway, stop patting yourself on the back. |
+1 It's not so black and white until it's in the past. |
Ha ha, typical miserable people piling on the OP ![]() |
I'm a PP and Trump 100% screwed the pooch on this big time. But the OP sounds like a bit much also. |
