Induction

I have seen several posts about going the night before to start the ripening process. Do you stay the night at the hospital or come home to arrive back in the morning? I am scheduled in a couple weeks and just curious!

For DS number one, I went in the night before to get the gel applied (or whatever it was) and was supposed to go home and return the next morning. However, I instantly started having contractions a minute apart, so they admitted me. I slept through the night (excellent night sleep actually, due to a mild sleeping pill the doc prescribed), and started the "main" process the next morning. I went from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m., finally delivering shortly after 7.
I'd suggest you have your bag packed- dear husband had to go home and gather random stuff, and we weren't quite prepared yet!
Good luck!

I know several people who got induced the night before with a cervical ripening gel, and they all spent the night at the hospital. I don't know if they all went into labor immediately like the PP or if it's just a standard procedure.

Good luck!

I went the night before. They insert cervadil (sp?) to get your cervix progressing and monitor you through the night. Then if you haven't started on your own, they'll induce you in the a.m. I was in labor from 7 am to 10:30 pm

I went in the night before - maybe around 7p or so. They gave me cervadil and monitored me during the night, and then started pitocin around 7a. I had my daughter at 2:08p. If you can say labor was "easy," (ha!), it was not bad at all.
Good luck and congratulations!

I got Cervadil at night - can't remember exact time - maybe around 8pm. I was already 2-3cm dialated b/f Cervadil. They monitored me thru the night & Cervadil did nothing (no further dialation or contractions) so they gave me Pitocin around 6am and broke my water around 7am. My daughter was born at 8:20am.

Long story short, my doc. recommended I be induced based on a couple of factors. So, he scheduled it the following week (talk about anticipation as first time parents-to-be)

I was admitted at 730 am at 5 cm dilated. Induction started , water broke, and then a beautiful DD born at 1230pm that day.

Good luck!
