I think that just says it all about Fox News. They aren't even trying to pretend anymore. Apparently all that is required to get on Fox is to be Republican and famous.

OK, Fox Newsies: Is she really secretly smart (or can you redefine smart to fit her), or is Fox News just a ratings whore?

Seriously, did you think that Murdoch was running it just for kicks!

Who cares? I would suggest that if you don't like it don't watch it. I mean really. I love my mother, who loves Glenn Beck, but I am not watching him so that Mom and I can talk about his show last night.

I do because I believe that they are dishonest as journalists and because they influence public opinion, so they exert a negative influence on our country. I'm not against free speech, but journalists are expected to adhere to standards and theirs are pretty lax. There are plenty of good, responsible conservative voices out there. Why can't Fox go that route? Murdoch owns WSJ and his editorial bias shows as does his Op Ed page, but at least there is some integrity there.

She looks like Peggy Hill of King of the Hill fame. And they both make as much sense when they talk about their respective careers aspirations (school teacher for Peggy and politician for Palin).

Conservative, Republican, Fox watcher here: I can't tell you how bummed I am that Palin is going to a Fox contributor--it will feed into all the worst things liberals say about Fox. I happen to disagree strongly that Fox is merely a conservative mouthpiece--at least their evening news program (Special Report), which is what I watch--having watched for years, I really do think it is fair and balanced to both sides of an issue. Also, I don't think Fox hides it's slant on its opinion shows (the only ones I catch occasionally are the Factor and Hannity).

That said, Palin is such a polarizing figure, even among conservatives. And while she may be long on "style" (for us "nerdy" Republicans...) she is very short on substance, or at least appears to be. Simply put, I just don't think she knows enough about issues to interpret and comment on them for the public. I do hope that they give her some decent training before they use her so we don't have to listen to her bizarre verbal syntax on a regular basis. And if she shows up on the evening Special Report, I may have to give up news watching.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Ugh.
