Now that schools are officially closed for the rest of the year, I’m wondering what most preschools are doing. Is your preschool doing online classes? And if so, for what age, how often, etc? Second, has there been any talk or refunds, partial refunds, credits for next year? Thanks! |
Part time preschool offering no online resources. Don't believe they intend to.
They had initially said there would be a tuition credit for the 3 weeks FCPS was closed, I am not sure if that changes with FCPS being off the rest of the year now. 2.5 months is a lot different than 3 weeks and IDK about the budget. There's been no communication since the initial FCPS closure. |
I have two kids in the same class at the same school, which is continuing virtual learning. Their class includes ages 3-6.
Teachers are doing daily Zoom meeting at 9am for the whole class, and posting new videos with lessons, songs, and stories daily. Written materials are also shared daily for those with access to a printer. In the afternoon, 15-minute time slots are available for 1-on-1 Zoom sessions with a teacher for working on reading, pre-reading, or math. 1-on-1 Hebrew language time slots are also in the works. My kids are 4 and 6. They are really enjoying it and it really helps them keep a connection to their classmates and teachers. |
Pp with the 4 and 6 year old. There has been no talk of refunds at our school AFAIK, and I'd never ask. They're doing as much as I could possibly have expected. |
Our part time preschool has had no talks of refunds or credits. They are attempting to implement online learning, but it has so far only been about once a week. Being honest, that once a week is probably harder on me than not doing it. I have to entertain my younger kid, etc. |
Closed through 4/27. April tuition is 75% of normal rate. Activity suggestions and Zoom virtual morning meetings provided for each day. |
Our school is doing online meetings for 30 minutes each day with occasional clips sent by the music teacher. I would rather have a refund and be done. My kid does not like Zoom and we have other more important schedules to manage. |
Our preschool is doing 30 minutes online learning and for April, we were given the option of 1) paying full tuition, continued online learning, priority for when school her reopen, 2) continued online learning, 3) withdrawal as of April 1, and option to re-enroll when school reopens. Not sure what we are going to do. |
Pretty good! It's a Montessori? Since you mention ages 3-6 mixed age group? My preschool is doing nothing, nada. |
Was there a discount for online learning option 2? |
Thanks, yeah, we are happy with it. It is Montessori-ish, not certified or 100% strictly in compliance with the Montessori methods. More like 90% at the preprimary level, and then maybe 60% for lower and upper elementary. I will say that I think the school's overall status as a school is what has led to the extensive preschool offerings. Because the school is PK3 to Grade 6, the overwhelming drive to continue educating the K-6 has effectively trickled down to the preschool kids, who share a class with the kindergarteners. If it was a standalone preschool, things might look very different. |
Ours is not really offering much. You can FaceTime with a teacher if you request it. They sent out a couple links of stuff you can do. Really not much else, which is fine with me. Their value was in spending time with my child which they cannot do. They are still charging full tuition. |
Yes, 50% of tuition for April. |
Why are schools charging full tuition for these online tutorials that nobody follows |
Because they can |
