Do you let your kids come to the grocery store with you?

Anonymous
Mine are 10 & 13, so more than old enough to not touch common surfaces.

Seems to be well to be a little normal and shop together (once every two weeks is the plan). Physically seeing people around seems important, I think it's ok but waiver on it. Otherwise we are home all the time.

What do you do?

No. No need.

Hell no! The fewer people in the house going out in public, the better.

The kids can see people around from the comfort of their driveway.

Nope, they stay home. I let them FaceTime or video chat more than normal to connect with family and friends.

No, no, no.

And my oldest is older than your oldest. Families should only have one person go out to get groceries.

The worst time. No they stay home, and grocery shopping with mom used to be my preschoolers favorite activity.

Okay thank you everybody. They will stay home.

FYI, the next 10-12 days are critical. How we behave will determine whether we really flatten the curve or infect more people.

No, I leave her at home every time. Went out today for groceries and hope not to leave the house for 2 weeks except for occasional bike rides or walks in deserted areas.

Our kids go shopping with us every time. The staff know them by now and all smile, save things for them, etc.

But no, they are not going out in this. Not because I'm worried about them, but because it's the right thing to do. We're all in this together.

If people see your kids out and about, they'll decide to take theirs too. Because ALL of our kids are bored and stuck at home. Why are yours special??

No, not now.

I never said they were, and they are not bored.
I said I'm wavering on the choice from feeling it's ok to it's not ok. Weighing risks. I wanted other parents' thoughts. I was thinking about taking them in the late evening just in and out for milk and produce, and where I am there are 300 cases with over 25,000 tested negative.

So I was thinking about it. Thanks for sharing your best practice and thoughts.
