PSA: don't put your "flushable" wipes down the toilet. Or paper towels. Or tampons.

Arlington put out an advisory earlier.

I'm shocked people still think "flushable" wipes are ok for your pipes, septic, sewers, etc. Nothing other than your pee, poop, and toilet paper. Honestly best to choose the cheap TP too (not the 2-ply clothy kind).

Don't be dumb, y'all. This is not the time for a plumbing emergency.

Or facial tissues, or food, or cut up t shirts because some people ran out of tp.

If you run out of tp, try to find a squirt bottle, clean your self as best as possible. Find a bucket, pail, or some other container to soak out any t shirts you might need to use. Then wash the t shirts and reuse.

Well stop now that we’re in a pandemic.

Definitely not going to stop flushing my tampons, but I’ve been doing that my entire life. Nothing else though.

I would laugh if all of lyon village suddenly had poop backflowing into those houses.

Can you explain why a pandemic makes it a worse idea than usual to flush tampons?

It’s always a terrible idea.
However with the inability to buy toilet paper, more people are using so-called flushable wipes. It’s not one tampon or one wipe, but all of them add up to blockages.
Can you explain why it’s necessary for you to flush it?

Because you may not be able to get a plumber to help you fix it.

Public spaces have been urging women for decades to stop flushing tampons because they don’t break down like toilet paper does in the septic system. Neither do wipes. So we shouldn’t be flushing these in any case.

Stop. Or call a plumber and ask what happens.

Have you seen and smelled what absorbs into a tampon?

Please stop flushing anything but a little TP!!!!

This is bad enough already. Losing sewer service would make this a million times worse. Watch videos of sewer clogs

Of course. Wrap with TP, put into trash can. Take your trash out when it's full.

Do you also flush old food? Onion peels? Fish? Other cooking stuff? Stuff growing in your fridge? 3 week old takeout? Of course not.

It's idiotic to flush anything besides TP. The plumber loves it, because you pay him.

You know what else shouldn't be flushed? "Flushable" cat litter. #ilearnedthehardway
