My toddler’s first sentence was a criticism of my hair!

DD, 17 months, was just staring at me and then said, “messy”. I thought she had something on her hands but she pointed to my hair and said, “Mama messy”.

Okay, so I have been a bit slack in the personal grooming department but...

That’s gonna be a good story someday.

I was explaining to my six-year-old how this situation is just temporary and soon he’ll be back at school with his friends and I will be back at work with my friends. DS said brightly, “And then you’ll look pretty again!”

Who wears makeup and blows out their hair in a quarantine?!

Ha ha, I was just thinking that after the restaurants and travel industry, makeup and hair products will be hardest hit!

Of course, I do have video calls, so I make myself pretty on top and have pajama pants and unshaven legs below

LOL!

My perpetual frumpiness was intentional so I could keep a sense of normalcy for my children in hard times. I was planning for this all along.

You are a wise woman. I, too, have set the bar low on personal care.

DD, 4, asked me if I still had my “hard pants” (dress slacks). She’s only seen me in yoga pants since confined to home.

LOL. Kids don’t mince words.

My 5YO said he was going to change his shirt before dinner. I said it’s OK to come as you are, and he said “but you guys don’t look good! I want to look GOOD!”

+1 you'll be surprised what you don't remember years later! That's a good one.

My children's first words reflect who they are:

DS said "Mama". Even now as a teen, he places great faith in me and we have a very trusting relationship.

DD said "NO!". Typical of her independent (I mean defiant) spirit.
