Letting go of nanny

We’re letting go of our nanny today. It’s not financially feasible for us to keep her employed with us any longer. How much should I pay her? She’s only been with us for 2 months, and she’s not the greatest, but I don’t want to cut her off with nothing during this time. TIA

Please try and set her up with another family! Tell her to keep herself as isolated as possible until she can transfer over to another family.

How much can you afford? Two weeks? A month? I know she's only been with you 2 months but I'd stretch as much as possible. Off rot post on local message boards.

A month’s severance is customary especially in a new position as she most likely turned down other offers to accept your position two months ago. You are not firing her for cause.

OP, did you and/or your spouse lose your jobs because of the pandemic? Is that why you are doing her so quickly?

I’d say 4 weeks severance pay because the chance of her finding another nanny job in the next few weeks is slim.

Four weeks. Her not being with you for long is not the issue. As already mentioned, she turned down other job offers in good faith and is not very being fired for cause. Definitely four weeks severance at least.
