Teleworker who needs sound cancelling headphones

Anonymous
Never used sound cancelling headphones but need them now. I allow my DC to watch 2 hours straight of TV, or a movie, a day and need to work during that 2 hour break from their schoolwork. I live in an apartment. Nearly impossible to work but don’t want to cancel sound completely. Advice??

Maybe the kind that muffle sound but not block it completely, like you'd wear when hunting/shooting-those in a kid size is what my dd with ASD uses in noisy places. She can still hear.

I think op is hoping to wear them, not her DD.

Op, I’ve thought about doing this for work from home, but I’m too nervous something would happen to the kids (like choking) while I’m working and couldn’t response. I would be much more comfortable wearing the sound reducing headphones pp suggested, but not the sound eliminating.

PP-what I was trying to say was, OP should get the hunting/shooting headphones, they are relatively cheap.

Google, hunting headphones on Amazon. They are like $12

Check CNET reviews.

There are noise canceling and sound canceling.

We use ear plugs. Less fancy but accessible at drugstore. Get the highest noise rating they, it’s not silent, but everything is muffled quite a bit. I’m sure you can get something nice for an Amazon but this isn’t the time to keep asking drivers to do that.

Woah! Think logically. There is less exposure if ONE driver delivers it, vs. you going to a drug store with other people and clerks, and exposing or getting exposed.

Amazon is more than one driver.

Also it’s a more immediate fix for the person asking for help. Most orders are delayed right now.

So is the delivery process to the drugstore-don't fool yourself.

One of you moves into the bedroom and closes the door.

Apartment walls tend to be thin and kids tend to be loud. Op, if you are anything like me, certain sounds drive me insane so I need noise cancelling headphones. I invested in a good set of headphones when a co-worker refused to change her noise habits and talked loud all the time. I often felt like I was in a meeting with her and I was down the hall from her.

Bose in-ear or over-the-ear or Jabra in-ear noise cancelling headphones. I consider it essential because if certain people can't work/produce quality products, then they don't get paid and people need to feed their families. I would make this a worthwhile Amazon delivery by adding other essentials that can get shipped in the same box.

Bose quiet comfort.

Have your child use headphones, not you. You need to be able to hear if there is a problem.

Also, unless you’re in a single-family home we are asking the driver to navigate a whole mess of people even if theyre delivering to a front desk or a mail room. And if they are required to to deliver to door they are having to navigate elevators that potentially have other people in them. Times however many orders they have that day.
