The daycare where our DS is supposed to start next month just announced that it will be closed until at least end of April. I completely understand the need for them to close now and it is the right decision. However, i'm wondering how this would impact our enrollment when the daycare reopens. Do you think daycares will lose families due to COVID-19 office closures and telework? Will daycares honor offers of spots to families who have not yet enrolled? There is so much influx right now and this may seem like a minor problem. However, if we lose our spot then it's yet another problem to add on to the pile. |
Many daycares require 14 day pay or monthly pay so right now people are not pulling their kids out yet. If this drags on and layoffs happen, possibly. |
At our Daycare, they require 4 week notice to pull a kid and then 2 weeks to re-enroll. Not sure how they're handling the fact that they're closed. Since no one really knows how long this is going to last, it's hard to put in 4 week notice right now without knowing when we'll have to re-enroll. Most are only shutting down if the district/state/county are forcing them too, so it's not like most parents will find an alternative. I imagine the kids that don't come back are the ones whose parents get laid off. |
