| orientation this summer? will schools be ready for our kids in the fall? I’m sorta worried! |
| Yes, I'm totally thinking about this. I'm wondering if it will happen this fall for our seniors. |
| Wait three more weeks and it will be clearer... |
| No I'm not worried. |
| Yes, but whatever happens, we will all be in the same boat, so I’m just not going to worry about it. |
| I am wondering if my kid is going to have to pick a school based on driving around a campus. Not touring or doing admitted students weekend. I think that is a yes. |

Yeah, very true. -op |
Yep - we are going to put a deposit down sight unseen. The best option for ds is one that is a plane ride away and we were supposed to visit over spring break. Hoping he can visit once before he move-in day. Depending on how long this goes on, orientation days may be affected. I have twins and my dd is scheduled to register at her school in June. I believe it’s possible that could be delayed too. |

Double yes!
My older is a senior in college and is supposed to be going to medical school in the fall—will be very interesting to see how that all plays out. Even things like finding an apartment are going to be tricky... My younger is a senior in HS and fortunately did ED so no worries on having to pick a college sight unseen, etc. but yes still wondering what this will all look like come fall. Supposed to go to orientation the second week of June! I doubt that’ll happen. |

I felt almost sheepish taking DS around to the schools he wanted to see last spring and fall; when I was in HS, I didn't know anyone who made elaborate college visits, and it seemed kind of indulgent.
Now he has to decide between four, and I'm so grateful we did those visits. I remember that some of the kids who were on the spring tours were accepted students trying to decide, and I envied them the luxury of appraising everything from a perspective of "Should I?" rather than ours of "Will I?" We'll all have to take this one step at a time. Fingers crossed. |
In the past decade or so, schools moved to these mid-summer orientations. I spent 20 years working at a small college in Ohio and we always had orientation in early August just as the freshman arrived. For many schools, it could be done that way again. |
