This is a good reminder, but folks should talk to their doctors about relative risks.

I take a UC drug that breaks down into an ASA, and I asked my doctor whether I should be concerned...especially since I have a respiratory illness right now and some risk factors for its being COVID-19 (but not sufficient to qualify for testing).

They said there shouldn't be a risk with my drug. If you're concerned, you should check with your physician.

Hello---Aspirin has LONG (long!) been known not to be good or taken with the regular flu to begin with.

Well I guess I shouldn't have stocked up on all of that valomag and sloprin.

But, seriously, most cold/flu medicine marketed as cold/flu medicine in this country should be o.k. to take, shouldn't it?

An unusual complication of flu is Reye's syndrome, which usually occurs in children and adolescents and rarely occurs in adults. Reye's syndrome is not well understood but it involves failure of the liver and brain swelling, which together can lead to coma and sometimes death. A link has been shown between the use of aspirin during influenza illness and the development of Reye's syndrome. For this reason it is best to avoid taking aspirin and other salicylates when you have the flu.

No, specific link to Covid-19. Don’t need old recycled articles.
