Infertility Support and Discussion
I have read that drinking green tea can affect how you metabolize folate..so not good to have when pregnant but wondered how soon before trying to conceive do you have to give it up? I am hoping that they mean when you are actively trying to conceive and not in the months before but I can't find info on this. We are thinking of trying to conceive in the Spring and I wanted to continue drinking tea during flu season. Any thoughts would be great.
I have never heard of this, but I'm no a doctor. I have talked to plenty of women TTC and they drink Decaf Green Tea to increase their cervical mucus, so I'm not sure what is accurate.

Green tea can infere with folate absorption, but you don't have to give it up, even while TTC. It has so many health benefits - I personally would not give it up.
Just take your prenatal vitamin at a different time than you drink the tea - space it as far apart as possible. I usually have green tea in the mornings and sometimes in the afternoon, and I take my vitamin when I go to bed. |
PP 21:45 again. I should add that I did research this several months ago (I'm not a medical professional, I just did a lot of searching and reading online) and everything I found said it was ok to continue with green tea and just space it apart from your folic acid supplement as I described above.
Op here-thanks!
