DC residents: are you still taking your kids to parks/playgrounds?

Interested in your plans during school shut down.

I think so. I'm still considering small playdates too. I think it would be hard to keep little kids in the house for two weeks straight.

I wanted to take the kids to the pool. (Chlorine kills germs!)

DH said I was crazy.

Nope to all of that

I’m letting them ride around on their bikes as long as they stay away from people, that is it

Yes. WE will do a lot of stuff thats outside

I'm thinking hikes in Rock Creek and maybe playground, although no organized play dates there--just may require thorough handwashing when we get home.

Probably not playgrounds. Definitely yes to hikes, open outdoor spaces, bike riding, scootering etc.

No playgrounds. New studies show the virus lives for days on steel/ plastic.

This is the right answer.

I went to a playground yesterday and no one was there. So we will probably play at deserted playgrounds with washed hands and/or sanitizer afterwards.

This may last for months, so some reasonableness will be required.

Yes to park parks, bikes, and walks around the neighborhood Not sure about playgrounds. If they're deserted and we can exercise precautions (maybe gloves while playing then hand sanitizer after?), we'll probably do that. Probably yes to small playdates (1-2 kids) as long as the families aren't sick and everyone's working from home. Not sure about pools - my preschooler asked this morning if we could go to the pool when school was closed. I think we'll treat it like the playground - go if it's pretty deserted and be extra careful about touching surfaces in the locker room, etc.

Also expecting this to last months and know that we're low risk and likely to be carriers, so we'll do our best to be responsible neighbors and limit community spread.
