No need to worry about bringing kids to activities

...since everything seems to be closing soon! Smithsonian Museums and Zoo are closing. Montgomery County parks are cancelling all indoor activities. Bye bye ice skating lessons, swimming lessons...

Not to mention schools and daycares. Those of us who work in hospitals are scrambling. My parents who are usually great about helping with the kids both have underlying health issues and can’t even be near my kids.

Is it being overly cautious to cancel small-group activities like dance class or music lessons at music school? What about birthday parties? There is some disagreement in my friend circle about what’s reasonable and what’s overkill.

It's hard to say what is overkill. Even a small group at a music school could have a member carrying the virus. If someone chooses not to participate they shouldn't be getting any flack from anyone else.

Does your hospital not offer childcare assistance? Ours does

Our school is still open. Wildly frustrating.

OP here. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be working at hospitals AND have childcare issues.

When my children were in daycare, health professionals always had special exemptions from closings; meaning they were allowed to attend daycare even if it were closed to the regular public say due to snow. Besides the fact they don't have a choice in going to work or not and being paramount to human survival, I would have though we would have centers here that accommodate the medical field.

Kids are about to going to get a crash course in self-sufficiency.
