I'm 21 weeks along and starting to get desperate for plus-size, but NOT MATRONLY, maternity tops. I was somewhere between XL and 1X when I got pregnant. All the maternity tops (sweaters, blouses, knits) seem to have that seam underneath the chest line, but my breasts always fall below that seam, making those tops incredibly unflattering. I also feel very uncomfortable wearing anything that exentuates my very large breasts. (I'd rather exentuate my growing belly.) I've been resorting to regular plus-size tops but they're starting to ride up in front because they're not made for expectant mothers. I'm so frustrated. I always thought pregnancy would be the great equalizer, but when I go to stores like Pea in the Pod and even Motherhood Maternity, I find that it's still a world for smaller women. Sigh. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much. |
Lane Bryant has a materinty line.
I believe Old Navy and Gap also have plus sizes. Congratulations on your pregnancy! |
I struggle with the same problem. Have had some luck at Sears and JC Penney. |
JcPenny has a lot of their plus maternity clothes on sale right now. I just got 4 pairs of pants and 3 tops for $100. Can't wait for them to come. |
I reached XL both times I was pregnant. I really loved those triangle shirts, shaped kind of like a poncho, but much lighter and prettier. I would wear a plain solid maternity shirt or tank underneath. The triangular cut covered my belly and made my obliques look slimmer. The arms were nice and loose and also covered my flabby mama arms. I found them in the plus size section, not maternity though. They went well with jeans, skirts, etc. I bought them at Ross years ago, the label says Mileage. I took them in after I lost all my weight and still wear them. |
