Yay or nay?
What about nature trails? Library? The park? Play basketball? |
| The trails definitely. |
|
| I am generally ok on outdoor, less ok on indoor. |
| I mean, I'm not in favor of closing, but that's literally why the closures would happen - to keep kids from spreading germs. Doubt those indoor places will even be open. |
what if basketball was indoors? |
| I think you are missing the point of social distancing. |
| Indoor places get us every time even without corona. |
| Nothing indoors. No zava zone, no arcade, nothing where there is close contact OR where there are lots of surfaces that many people touch. |
|
Nature trails, yes
Park, maybe yes but better with no equipment (like no playground) The rest: NO. |
This. Places like indoor bounce parks are germ fests on the best of days. Dave and Buster's, Zava Zone. Movie theaters Stay away, that is the entire point. Nature trails, hiking, general outdoor activities are going to be fine. I have mixed feelings about public playgrounds. As the weather gets warmer, I expect to do lots of family hikes and walks in the neighborhood. Making a point of spending family time in the yard playing tag, kicking or throwing around balls and getting physical activity for all of us. We will probably continue playdates with the next door neighbors whom I trust also plan to lock down pretty tightly so that both our families are safe. |
| Would you chancel parties this weekend or keep them on if they are at an indoor place? |
|
There was a writer on NPR the other morning, and he lives with his family in Milan. He talked about taking them to the park and keeping a safe distance from other kids, but I would think indoor play spaces would be the places you want to avoid during a time like this.
I don't want to be that person, but I'm really glad we have a decently sized yard. It's a mess in the back and I envision days of just picking up yard debris and getting the soil ready for planting veggies. Realistically I also envision plenty of screen time. |
Yes to all (assuming the child has no close contact with an elderly family member or other high risk individuals). Closing schools and cancelling large gatherings are the actions that make a difference. It would be different if this virus were dangerous for kids, but it’s not. |
That’s our plan, too — outdoor activities within reason. Ixnay the indoor stuff. |
