Crazy to go on a trip now?

Would it be crazy to book a trip somewhere (OBVS not Italy or Iran) if the kids get off school for 2-3 weeks? I have some leave accumulated and I'd rather use it on something fun.
Plus, looks like flights are getting cheaper and cheaper...

We just got back from Argentina. It was a great trip! Just take precautions and enjoy.

Yes. The point of closing schools is to slow the spread. Plus, if you get sick, you are stuck away from home. Or if you get caught in a quarantine.

They’re not getting off school. They’re taking school online. And yes. I think it’s a little short sighted.

The only thing that would scare me about taking a trip is being separated from my children in case of quarantine. However you’re going with your family, so no worries!

You’re probably in your 30’s or 40’s so you’re low risk of complications even if you do get sick - same for your children. The only other concern would be if you or your spouse has a job where you could get fired if you get stuck in a quarantine? It sounds like not, so go ahead and go!

And it goes without saying - but go somewhere warm and with zero cases...

If schools are canceled it is likely because there is community spread here. So taking a trip somewhere where there are no cases potentially means spreading it there. It is not yet 100% certain that a warm climate will prevent it. Australia is seeing community spread. Taking a trip someplace that doesn’t have it is selfish. How would you feel about someone hopping a plane from Milan to DC right now, because their kids have a few weeks off of school?

Here we go! I told people in the school thread people would use a closure as an excuse to travel, completely defeating the purpose of the closure. Please don’t do this.
