Planning a Vacation from Work While on Maternity Leave

I return to work from maternity leave next week. I would like to schedule a long weekend/vacation today (so that I can get the flights I want at the fare that looks good today), while I'm on maternity leave. I would let my manager know once I return next week. My office doesn't require people to obtain prior approval. Is it wrong to arrange Paid Time Off while I'm out of the office?

Speaking from the management side, just make sure you're back in the office long enough to take your projects back on before the vacation. We once had a woman return from maternity leave and take a vacation the following week. It made it essentially impossible to give her work.

As a manager, that sounds fine to me, as long as you still have the earned leave.
