I have 3 kids. Do not plan on stopping going to birthday parties or school events.
How about concerts, museums or large festivals? I have a 3yo and we frequent museums and play areas. |
Literally every credible source says to practice social distancing so YES I will be avoiding all things that are unnecessary. Geez! |
I?m not
I have a lot of indoor activities lined up |
Thank you all for staying home so my family can enjoy without crowds! |
Yes. This is the time we should practice social distancing, BEFORE we have hundreds of new cases a day. Italy went from a few cases to patients left in hospital corridors because they lack beds, in 2 weeks. The lockdown came too late because they didn?t learn from what happened in Wuhan. Learn from Italy. |
You won't be so cavalier if your or your kids get coronavirus, will you? Too bad you have no common sense. |
NP. Do we just assume most people will get it? And it won?t be from an event or museum, but maybe catching from your spouse or kid or parent, neighbor, coworker etc. I will continue to do my daily routine including typical weekend activities. |
Yes. We already don't go to non home b day parties during flu season. DD is 4 and I has a baby sister who has not had the flu shot yet.
I'm going to pull her out of gymnastics too. I think. |
The parking lot at the park today was full enough that people were waiting to get in and park. It didn't look like people were avoiding heading out and enjoying the nice weather. We don't normally go to museums so that is not a concern for us but we have not dropped any of our activities. |
Op here. I took DS to the park yesterday and it was packed. DH took kids to watch a movie this weekend and it seemed business as usual. We don?t watch a lot of movies though so not sure how packed a theater normally is. |
It?s a nothingburger for kids. |
FFS YOU CAN and SHOULD stay at home for the next few weeks. It's not going to kill you. Order some arts and crafts and entertain your kids at home. |
Remember that 300 million kids around the world are currently out of school and in self-quarantine at home basically. While there are some interesting medical reasons kids tend to get milder cases, there is also a MASSIVE social distancing effort underway in the most affected areas that are keeping the kid infection rates lower too. |
Yes, but not when your kids give it to your parents. |
Yes, everyone will eventually get it, though most will be a symptomatic or have a mild case. You will probably get it from a kid, parent, spouse... who got it in a public place. Everyone will eventually get it-- but the key is for everyone not to get it all at once, overwhelming hospitals-- which is what social distancing measures are for. We are helping protect our communities, not just our 3-5-person nuclear families. My kid is going to school for now, and we are not cancelling ALL public/indoor activities (for now), but in addition to extra handwashing and other measures, we are cutting down lots of those public interactions by more than half. |
