Sperm friendly lubricants - recommended or not?

Anonymous
I hear so much about Pre-Seed, but can't bring myself to order something off the internet that I don't 100% trust. In all honesty, there is also something about the wonder product hype about it that just bothers me - I wonder if it just another gimmick product from the fertility industry. So, what is the deal with the sperm friendly lubricants you can buy at CVS, etc? Are they recommended? Would appreciate hearing anything you might have heard about these.

I think if you typically have a good amount of egg white cervical mucous and don't normally use lube during sex, I wouldn't worry about it. If not, or you've been trying a long time, I think Preseed is worth a shot. I don't think I'd trust the other "sperm friendly" lubricants. You could also use canola oil (search for previous posts on this topic).

We used pre-seed. It seems to be exactly what it was advertised to be.

My doctor recommended canola oil when I asked him about it and that is what DH and I use. The RE said only advantage of preseed is that it doesn't stain as easily. The main thing (I think) is to not use traditional lubes or saliva.

We had difficulty conceiving for 3 years, used Preseed during ovulation at least 10 times, and conceived at least 4 times with it. Two of those resulted in full-term pregnancies at a maternal age of 41 and 43! I don't know if it was the Preseed or not that led to our success, but it is certainly worth a try. I actually have a bunch left over (in sealed boxes) if you want some. If so, contact me at mmcc333@aol.com and we can arrange a "drop off".

I used preseed for two months and got pregnant the second month. I was dubious about it as well, but since I have always needed a lube I thought it couldn't hurt. I actually found that I liked it better than the other lubes I had tried and have continued to use it during pregnancy. Also, there are pharmacies in this area that sell it. I live in Arlington, so I went to a neighborhood pharmacy in Falls Church to buy mine. I recomend the tube with the unfilled applicators, a little goes a long way. HTH
