If you grew up in the 70's/80's do you remember Toughskins? I used to trip a lot growing up and would get holes in the knees of my pants all the time and my mom would threaten me that she was going to buy me these. They weren't so attractive but they didn't rip.
Flash forward and I am getting holes in my jeans from all the playing I am doing on the floor with my kids. Does anyone have any recs for denim that holds up to lots of play? I bought a pair of Seven's last spring and I noticed today that I am about to get a hole very soon in my left knee. Thanks in advance for any recs. |

Toughskins! Ha! It was like wearing armor. You couldn't bend your knees! I always wondered what they made them out of...
I have no recommendations on jeans, except perhaps look for jeans with spandex in them (i.e. "stretchy" jeans) - they might last longer |
| No advice but the same thing happened to me after 3 wearings of Lucky brand jeans. Very comfortable, great fit, and almost a hole on the third wear, presumably from crawling around on the floor with kiddos! So sad. |

If you're one of those super petite DCUMs, you could go buy some jeans in the Sears kids' department. They have a program where if you sign up and the kids' clothes wear out they'll replace them for FREE!

| I get my jeans at Ann Taylor Loft, they are full price $60, but you can usually get them on a good sale so if they wear out after a season it isn't such a big deal. They make them in curvy and straight, petite, regular, long, etc etc. So maybe save the more expensive jeans for times when you won't be doing so much rough-and-tumble stuff. |
| I don't know how comfortable it would be but what about ironing a denim repair patch inside the knees of your jeans? You can pick them up at JoAnn Fabrics. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. Interestingly enough my Lucky Jeans lasted about 4 years but also just sprung a hole. I wish I could buy in the kids departments but I am on the taller side, and need at least a 33 inch inseam.
I do have some ATL jeans that I got for around $40. I also just bought a pair of "skinny" jeans at TJMAXX from the Junior department for $16 because I didn't want to spend a lot on what might be a short lived fad. I am actually loving these right now and if I get a hole in the knee, it won't be breaking the bank. Wet Seal, Rainbow, Delila's and wherever else the teeny boppers shop these days, here I come. I may have to ask the 13 year old down the street for some shopping advice. |
| The JC Penney brand called "St. John's Bay" are tough. I get the "secretly slim" ones that hold your tummy in. They have some lycra in them, too. But they are a little thicker than my other jeans and seem to last longer. |
