Can anyone tell me anything about the waitlist at CCBC? Did they flat out reject applicants or do they just run a huge waitlist? |
I know last year we were on the waitlist, and my husband and I both called repeatedly, stopped in and wrote letters and we did not make it off the waitlist. One thing the director told us is that since they try to make it a balance of boys and girls, there could be an opening, but your child has to be the right sex and the right age since they group the classes as close in age as possible. She also encouraged us to apply again next year and we got in this time. I think on the form they ask you if you applied the year before. |
OP here. Thanks for the info. I picked up on that part about not getting in one year helping the next time you apply when I went on the tour! Pretty depressing, if you ask me.
Where did you end up sending your child last year? We're also waiting to hear from CCPC, but we're not church members and don't have any connections there either, so I'm not holding out much hope and I'm thinking we're going to have to go farther afield. |
I did very little research last year, so I did not realize that Aiden and a few other school also offer an 18 month option. Because our child has an fall birthday, we had to wait until DC turned two and then we sent DC to a very small school in Bethesda that is taught by a teacher who used to teach at Key. Our child loves it there, but it is only for 2 and 3 year olds, so we are going to CCBC next year. We are not important or anything, so I think trying for a second time really did help us. I would stop by and tell them that you are willing to take the spot WHENEVER it opens up, even after school starts. I heard that a few families have gotten in that way. HTH |
I take it they have a good program if it's so popular? Where do most of the CCBC graduates end up going to K? |
The CCBC families in our neighborhood seem to send their kids Blessed Sacrament, but that's just what I see and its an admittedly small sample. Those kids are parishoners. |
