Kings college London or Kings Cambridge? Manchester is a massive city and St. Andrews is a sleepy town by comparison. Manchester is highly regarded and St. Andrews less so. Manchester has a full scope of students in terms of socio-economic backgrounds, St Andrews is a narrow, private school set who all wanted to go to Oxford or Cambridge but were never going to get in. |

Not PP, but St Andrews is far more respected for humanities compared to Manchester.
As for IR, it is a two horse race here KCL vs St Andrews. War Studies at KCL is peerless, but more focused. St. Andrews is slightly better for general IR. |

+1. You should visit St.A. It is a strange place to spend 4 years of your life... MA from Scottish schools is an equivalent to American BA. You would get 1-2 electives at St.A during the first 2 years. Apply to both. |
