How long is real estate license good for? Part timer says he can sell us beachfront property.

We found his contact information from a rental he was advertising.
He says he is retired and works from home part time and can show us beachfront properties for sale during the summer.
Obviously we are not going to give him any money upfront or while touring the properties but are there any red flags that should be raised before meeting with him?
