| Will your day care close if schools close? Specifically for home day care, if they close do you still pay them? |
| Mine follows DCPS. We have still paid when it’s closed for things like snow but I have no idea how an extended close will go. |
| I would still pay - I did during the shutdown when I wasn’t getting paid and had to take out loans. They need the money more than me and didn’t do anything wrong. It’s my job to pay my bills, not ask a poor hardworking legal immigrant woman to shoulder a burden she probably couldn’t. |
Well there are plenty of legal immigrants who use child care themselves, who will not be able to afford paying their closed daycare when they are not getting paid. |
| I imagine if you don't pay, then you will need to seek care elsewhere when it is time to return to work. |
| Yes, you pay. You are paying for her to hold the spot for you so it's there when things reopen. Just like snow days, just like holidays. |
| Why is this even a question? Of course you pay. You should have emergency savings for this. Chances are a quarantine wouldn’t last longer than a month. |
I have a kid starting K in the fall. If there was going to be an extended closure, I’d have to think about pulling her and piecing together coverage from there. |
| Ours follows the federal government. I’m not sure what they will do if they go to telework/liberal leave |
But it's ok if you don't pay the non-immigrant white women who work there? |
Depends if her DH has a job I suppose. |
