| Is this a thing? There's a couple we met recently who seemed very nice but then the conversation got on a weird tangent about preparing for a 10K road race out West. The husband was telling us about his wife's training regimen and told us that "she's 5'7" and a buck-oh-five" which seemed strange and pretty controlling. Is this typical for spouses to be aware of actual numbers on the scale if there aren't medical issues? |
| If they race together then I wouldn’t find it strange because it is part of race preparation - especially if they are serious about it. Normally I’d think it’s wearied but in the context you mention, no. |
|
If they race together they may talk about it in terms of training. If he was making her weigh in the morning that would be nuts.
I think all spouses know each other's heights, though. |
| If she’s 280, she’s a lady! |
| I absolutely know my wife's height and weight and she knows mine too. Are you telling me there are people that don't monitor their weight? No wonder 80% of adults are overweight now |
| I hope he is totally wrong- that sounds scary unhealthy |
| Shoe size is impressive ... weight is controlling. |
|
Wives who are on the light side of the scale tell their husbands how much they weigh.
That is not a conversation that we have in my house, lol. |
| When they are really into training it's not a surprise because it is what they measure daily. People like that are a bit too intense for me but I can understand it. |
| DH knows my height, definitely my ring size, and my average dress size. We don't have a scale so I don't know how much I weigh - just how my clothes fit. |
| I don't think it's weird in that context. She sounds like someone who is particularly focused on her body and its performance and probably brings it up a lot. Also, I'm pretty sure my husband knows what I weigh, but he knows better than to bring it up in front of people. |
|
My wife monitors her weight and mentions it periodically.
|
|
it's normal if the wife is fit. Fit people have no problem broadcasting their weight. The only people who have a problem with people knowing their weight are one who are ashamed of it.
|
This. That's totally nuts. I'm 5'8" and when I get down to 120...which hasn't happened in some time, mind you...I start to look ill. |
|
My husband weighs himself regularly. I don’t, but we are both fit and lean... I am 5’3” and weigh between 118 and 123 and DH is 6’2” and weighs between 170 and 175.
How is this weird? For what is worth I think my husband loves that I still look good, but misses my “huge” butt and boobs from when I was pregnant ? |
