How is your family dealing with all that is happening. Do you talk with the kids about this at all, do they have any questions. What kind? How is the mood and how is it changing if there is one and if it is?
Are kids oblivious to it, emotionally or mentally? Are they being told by the school or you about the upping up the hygiene and the whole hand washing, sneezing, touching door knobs and all that? Just curious how is that realm of our viral reality doing at this point. Do share. |
Funny anecdotes welcomed. |
I like those precious moments when media print sometimes something that we all sense for a longest while..
Example.. Seriously?.. don't say.. all this expertise and still "may"? not even most likely?... ![]() Today in the news: Ex-CDC head Tom Frieden says kids may be secret coronavirus carriers https://nypost.com/2020/03/02/ex-cdc-head-tom-frieden-says-kids-may-be-secret-coronavirus-carriers/ |
The kids are all talking about it, nonstop. Mine (10) is worried about his grandparents, but not too worried about us. We all just had the flu, so we could compare it to that (i.e. survivable).
I did give him this and think it was helpful: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/02/28/809580453/just-for-kids-a-comic-exploring-the-new-coronavirus |
I wonder how long till someone will start selling first plush coronavirus comfort toys. You bet there will be little toddlers cuddling the furry nasty virus like it were your teddy bear. |
My 8yo just said today that kids are immune to coronavirus.
We are Asian American. My 10yo had a cold last week and I coached him to say that he was born in America and never been to China. This was last week, before it spread to Europe. We have been talking about it since we cancelled our spring break plans to Japan. |
Teenagers are cute, one day I heard someone asking one about the coronavirus and they replied..
"what coronavirus"? Not stopping texting for a minute. They will survive it and then when their battery juice runs out they will look around and see everyone dead and will wonder.. what happened? ![]() |
I explained the racism connected with it, and why Trump putting Pence in charge is such a bad idea, and what we're doing to be careful, yet not paranoid.
Kids are in elementary school. They didn't understand why Trump put Pence in charge of this since he's such an idiot. "Because Trump is an idiot too." "Oh yeahhhhh!" |
2 weeks ago, we had a vomiting virus go through our house and at one point, our 4 year old asked if we had coronavirus. I have no idea how he even knew about it, not something we've discussed with him. |
Smart cookie, the knowledge is strong in this one! He JUST made the death-free group too... Mine is like me- wondering what all the fuss is about and wishing people would not panic about it before there is any reason to do so. I hadn’t mentioned it at home and we don’t watch the news, but he said everyone at school is talking about it. He’s in 6th. |
There was a lady with a facemask at the grocery store's checkout line in front of us. My 6 years old said look!! That lady has the coronavirus. ? |
Sixth sense!!!! |
I bet your DC was no the only one. |
My kids don’t care. They’re 9 and 12. I ask if anyone is talking about it and there some comments/fears/teasing among the middle schoolers, but, by and large, they are thinking about other things. |
