Are all Mathnasium branches really that awful?

We have tried two and find them to be a marketing gimmick.

Couldn’t be happier with ours in nova. Is your kid struggling with something?

The Mclean one is great. I’ve gotten feedback on another one that was lukewarm though.

This is unhelpful without some specifics.

The branch in Bethesda is fantastic!

We have tried the one in Centreville, which was like a chaotic daycare. And the other is Fairfax Corner, which is quite frankly expensive and a scam. Their front desk helper left recently and now they have a student filling in for her. Lots of kids come to this center and the ratio is completely off of supervision versus the kids showing up for studying. Highly rated on google but actual experience was quite scam-ish.

I used to work at one. The most shady, fraudulent, NOT research-based or educational-background organization I have ever been associated with. The dude who started that branch could not multiply or divide, and he was entrusted to tutor math. There's no pedagogy or successful- proven methods, just worksheets.

Most of them have profiles of the owners and of their team posted on their websites. I would start there. Some of them are exceedingly qualified, others not so much.
