Assuming you know about online options like Amazon or Zappos. In the DC area, try Nordstrom or Shoe Train, if you want a brick-and-mortar store where they'll really fit them properly.

If you need good, supportive athletic shoes for a specific sport, Road Runner carries kids's shoes and will measure and fit them properly. But their prices are pretty high, so I wouldn't bother unless you need serious athletic shoes.

For everyday "sneakers," those first two will be fine, or look for a Foot Locker Kids near you. And DSW has started carrying kids' shoes now, too, but I think the options vary by store.

Typical bitchy DCUM comment. Just answer the question, or don't, but bitchy comments are not needed. How do you who the OP is? Maybe they just moved here, they could be diplomats etc and are not familiar where the good shoe stores are for kids.

OP, I have 7.5 year old boys. I do not order on-line, and these are the stores we usually use: Shoetrain, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, DSW, and the Clarksburg Premium Outlet has Adidas, Nike stores too.
