Hello,
Was wondering if people could post school name and class size for K. Please also list how many teachers and asst teachers also. Thank you! For example, Maret: 20 kids in K classroom, two teachers. |
| This is all on the websites |
I don't know if it's accurate/updated. For example, I think Beauvoir currently has a smaller class size than what's posted. Is it 18 kids with two teachers now? Thought it would be helpful to compile an updated list. |
Agreed. I had thought Beauvoir was 21 students per class, but I think in reality some classes are smaller. 21 might be a cap. Always two teachers. |
|
And is Sidwell 25 kids with two teachers?
I know all these classes break out for smaller group for some instruction, but wondering about the main class they are in. I think NPS and St Pats is smaller like 12-15 in a class, but maybe one teacher and 1 asst teacher. Just wondering if people who are currently or recently in K at these schools can confirm? |
|
Gds two teachers 22 kids.
Great social kickstart to the school. One teacher, 15 kids thereafter, mixed up each year half female, half male, a couple newbies. |
|
Sidwell 24 2 teachers (average)
Beauvoir 18 2-3 teachers |
|
Primary Day
16-17 students each in 2 K classes 2 lead teachers Separate math and reading specialist to help lead teachers |
| Christ Episcopal School: 6 kids, 1 teacher |
| Gds will be different with new campus. Check with admissions |
Above is accurate. 22 in pK, 2 teachers. Two classes of 22 in play-based K (ie no reading groups). Three classes of 15-16 with one homeroom teacher, floating Aide and specialists thereafter. |
Plus frequent sessions with subject specialists at Beauvoir either for acceleration or extra help. Reading groups/math groups and reading workshops/math workshops start in pre-k. |
So is your real question about whether schools are honest in their descriptions/admissions information? |
I think saying schools are dishonest is a little extreme. There is often a disconnect between what's happening on the ground--which is fluid--and updates to the websites. |
| That's interesting. My daughter is in K in DCPS and there are 22 kids in the class and two teachers. I thought most private schools had significantly smaller class sizes? |
