| DD shares a 1-BR suite with her roommate, who has the flu (diagnosed by the "wellness" center). DD will sleep in the common area and use the communal bathroom on the hall, rather than their en-suite bath. I'd appreciate any advice beyond the standard, i.e., wash your hands -- a lot -- and try not to touch your eyes, nose and mouth; wipe down surface with anti-bac wipes. Ugh. |
| There IS no other advice. If she gets the flu, she gets the flu. She's hearty - it's very unlikely that it'll kill her. |
| When DD got it, she stayed in the room. Felt bad for the roomate. Some kids at her school go to a hotel when the get it, but that just isn't in our budget. |
| Oh, lord. |
| crash on a friends couch? |
Uh huh. Sure she will. Definitely staying at the boy/girlfriend's place. |

She’s been exposed already, so other than the usual flu tips there’s nothing to do beyond trying to get a little extra sleep, eating healthy food and obsessive hand washing.
And she should offer to get food or juice for her roommate. |
| Did she get a flu shot?? Remember this for next year, if she didn’t! |
+ everything |
| What was her temp when you got there? Make sure you clean everything. |
| Why is wellness in quotes? |
| Tell her to get Lysol wipes and wipe everything down after her roommate’s fever has subsided. It takes 5-7 days after feeling sick to NOT be contagious. Clean accordingly. |
| When my husband had it, I slept next to him in a queen sized bed and shared our tiny bathroom. I washed my hands regularly, didn't pick up used tissues or share eating implements with him. I didn't have a flu shot and I didn't get the flu. |
| My dd had it. I took care of her and took zero additional precautions and didn’t catch it. |
