We just had a WONDERFUL weekend at L'auberge Provencale (www.laubergeprovencale.com) in Boyce, VA. Spent about $800 (room was $220 or so per night, and included an AWESOME breakfast), you have to eat dinner at their very fancy/good restaurant one night (probably about $200), and we probably blew another $200 on other meals, gas, etc.
The only "drawback" is what you would do... We went to a winery, went hiking, and spent a few hours walking around historic Warrenton. I don't know that there is a whole lot more to do there. Middleburg is close too if you like antique/hunt country shopping. And actually, in April, there are probably a few horse events or hunt races around those parts. But you certainly could also lounge on their beautiful porch with a good book.
We really liked it (obviously), and I got the recommendation here on this board. It only took us about 75 minutes from our house (in Vienna)... but if you went in rush hour it could take much longer.
