| Looking for advice/feedback on club soccer for high school boy who also wants to play soccer for his high school. In other words, which clubs would be helpful for development but not demand as much time? Stoddert travel? Achilles? etc? Interested in DC and MD. |

Depending on what high school he's at, he many have very little chance if he's not on a top club team.
It's incredibly hard for a coach to choose a team based on a few try-outs, so having a good club team on your resume is almost essential. And any of the club teams worth going to for development are going to to demand a decent amount of time. |

It totally depends on what high school you're talking about.
Any reason you can't be specific? It'll help tailor the advice to you. |
| My DS does Stoddert travel and high school soccer. The Stoddert season is very limited in the fall because almost all the boys are playing high school soccer. It works. |
| FWIW my kid did high school and an active competitive team in the same season. It was very rough and we won't do it again. We'll find a team that dials it back a bit during the school season. 3x practices a week plus 5x school practices and 2 games was simply too much. |
OP here, that’s our concern as well. |
Agree. And make sure it is a team where the kids are on the same school soccer season (e.g., not McLean or Arlington if your DC is at a MD school or private school, and vice versa). For DCs school it wasn't so much the specific club but the level of competition - kids at the MSI Classic level weren't getting the level of competition that kids on club teams were and it showed. |
