Anything fun to do this weekend?

I'm going stir crazy. We have normal Saturday activities planned (basketball games, birthday parties, errands) but nothing Sunday or Monday. Any fun events going on? Quick day trips to recommend? We just moved back to the area after spending the last four years in Europe (where, given two days, would have taken a quick overnight trip w/ our kids - ages 9, 7, and 4). For some reason, I'm struggling to come up with something here!

My older two have been studying American history (for the first time, really!) and are really into the early settlers and the Revolutionary War. Worth a drive to Williamsburg? Philly?

Mount Vernon will be free (but crowded) on Sunday.
Yes, you can do Colonial Williamsburg in a 2 day weekend, or even Philadelphia if you leave early Sunday morning.
There's a parade for Washington's birthday in Old Town Alexandria on Monday, and I think a lot of the historical sites in Old Town are free that day.A

Where do you live?

My 7yo is going rollerskating in Columbia on Sunday.

You could go for a hike somewhere.

We live in NoVa. One complicating factor is that one of my kids fractured an elbow this week, so I have to take active stuff off the list.

Thanks for suggestions. What is tubing in PA? (Tubing to me signifies taking tubes down the river, which I'm guessing is not an option this weekend!)

If not Williamsburg, Valley Forge near Philly is in line with the interest in the American Revolution.

You could also do Fort McHenry in Baltimore (War of 1812).

This one is really out there, but we are going to a college wrestling/gymnastics meet at the University of Maryland on Sunday.

There are also many civil war sites close by.

Further away, in Staunton, VA, the Frontier Life Museum is excellent if the weather is ok for waling around. It explores the old world versus new world way of life.

Gadsby's Tavern is a colonial tavern/museum.
They're having a free open house. I took my kids to a program several years ago tgat was outstanding. Unfortunately, the website has changed and doesn't give details about this event, so I don't know if it's the same.
