Looking for 3 row SUV with second row captain seats. My current list (in order or ratings). If you own any of these can you provide input? We currently lease Acura MDX and I never loved it. Looking for a car that would be great on family trips and spacious for our family of 5 (toddlers and infant)
- Kia Telluride - Hyundai palisade - Mazda CX-9 - Chevrolet Traverse |
x chevy off your list. The Kia and Hyundai are overpriced. Go with the Mazda. |
|
Have the Palisade.
Love it - Easy for kids to get in and out of. But my kids are older - but I am not certain how easy it would be if you had 1 infant / 2 toddlers and clipping a toddler in the 3rd row. |
Why no to Chevy? |
| Get the Mazda. |
| I know you don't want to hear this but: minivan |
| Why wouldn’t a minivan be better? Surely easier especially with car seats? |
+1 It's crazy to me that this is seemingly the only thread that ever gets posted in this forum anymore. What 3-row SUV is most like a minivan? I refuse to buy a minivan but I need all of its features! |

Tesla X, if you want to be a real BSD
My buddy has a toddler and 5 year old. They love that damn car. It's like driving a space ship. Plus, the massive navigation screen has games for kids to play when the car is parked. Also, the audio system has a karaoke feature. It's crazy. |
Thanks but that isn’t one of the options above |
| Just got a Mazda CX-9 and love it. Not sure I'd love it with 3 kids though because you're likely using the third row way more often than we plan to. Friend has a Hyundai Palisade and it's a lot roomier -it's really nice, check it out! |
| The Kia Telluride quite a big bigger than the Mazda CX-9. The CX-9 is more like the Kia Sorrento, which also has a fold up 3rd row. We have one and love it. Reliable, good driving, comfortable etc. Highly recommended. |
| I’d get the Honda Pilot /captains chairs. Also comes with a DVD player in those trims. A lot roomier than an MDX. |
| Lexus LX570 is the best choice |
| We have a Hyundai - love it. We also have a mini van (got it later because we succumbed when kid #4 showed up) and love it more. Do yourself a favor - minivan. Unless, like us, you also go camping and hiking a lot then the 4WD is great despite the comparatively less room and getting in/out annoyances. But if we had to pick just one now that we've experienced the comfort of a minivan, hands down the minivan. And, yes, exactly as damaging to your mental image of yourself as you might expect...until you are sitting in it and the kids are running towards you and you push a button, doors open without your getting out, everyone files in without drama, and everyone is buckled and has room for all of their gear in 3 min. flat. Then you're like...who cares. This is where I'm at in life |
