| With a used car, should I go by the blue book value when negotiating with a dealer? I’m getting ready to make an offer but don’t know what’s possible. |
| Why not go with a private party? You will save several thousand. |
|
Depending on the car and options. One car at this price would be already a deal yhe next one
would be bad deal, 1. Educate yourself how much a car like you want is worth. 2. Study features and values 3. Collect all comps. 4. Offer fair price. Done. Use car gurus and cars.com For 1 , 2, and 3... Use your math to do 4. A schoolgirl can do it. Ps comps can be from the whole country , in theory You can have it shipped,, but!!!.. dont. Buy locally, just negotiate the comps. The more expensive brand the more elegant dealing. I never bought used car but you can’t go wrong With the above. |

What you are saving in price on a used car you wil loose on
Warranty and fixing old car. |

I would haggle at keast 2K off a 25K car. BUT, you need to have the financing sorted our first, otherwise they will give you a higher interest rate. So either get a loan somewhere else and pay with that loan. Or sort out your interest rate then haggle the price.

| Knowing the way dealerships rip off people with trade ins, they probably have 10k in wiggle room. |
Yeah, if the engine and trans blow up. |
| Who is crazy enough to spend 25 on used? |
You are insufferable. |
Someone who is less crazy than the person spending 32k on the same car that happens to be new. |
Well, that depends entirely on how old the car is. |
| There are plenty of brand new cars with an engine and four wheels for less than $20,000. I’d take any one of them before I’d pay $25,000 for a used car. |
oh man. 32k MSRP for a new, 25 used... i bet you can bring down msrp to 25 and get a new one |
I did. I got a 2-year-old Acura coming off a lease. My first used car actually. |
??? I only pay cash for cars. |
