For what it's worth Soccerwire is now ranking clubs based primarily on national team call ups, and some other variables. So far just boys, with girls to follow in a week.
MLS Academies not surprisingly come in at the top. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/soccerwire-top-100-boys-soccer-clubs-february-2020/ |
Prediction: SoccerWire, aka FCV’s PR Branch, will have lots of detail about how great FCV’s girls are and very little about any other local teams. Continuing their existing trend of ECNL/DA coverage on the girls’ side. |

If you were building a list, what would your criteria be?
USNT Professional Players - Europe Professional Players - MLS Div 1 Div 2 Div 3 Results I'd probably also give extra points to a kid who grew within the club vs. transferred (i.e. a development bonus). |
| FCV and McLean on the girl's side. |
I would have the top criteria be a vote on DCUM. Everyone on here knows more about soccer than anyone else on the planet. |
That wouldn't work because posters here only want to talk about girls' soccer. |
oh, is there boys' soccer in this area? |
Nobody asked about girls soccer. |
| Boys’ soccer doesn’t matter until the USMNT can match the success of the USWNT. |
It matters if your kid would like to receive a salary to play the sport, which is a much more realistic option for boys than girls, regardless of the national teams' performances. |
+1 |
USMNT is not the highest level of soccer for males. |
Is Arlington the only VA team on the list? I didn't see any others. They don't even have full DA |
Yep. Did Bethesda make it? Pipeline was highest among area non MLS. |
| For all the haters here, the ranking of Baltimore non-DA clubs Pipeline and Celtic is impressive. |
