What kinda dog is this puppy?

Did I get tricked into rescuing a pit marked as a lab?

Looks like a lab/pit bull mix. Not straight lab.

There is definitely pit bull in him/her. This happened to us as well. Did a DNA test.

So adorable. If you have an issue with the pitt, please contact your rescue group immediately. Don’t let this precious baby get attached to you and your family if you are just going to give her up down the road.

We did and he’s a very sweet 1.5 year old.

That's a mixed breed, it isn't possible to tell from the one photo. The face doesn't look like a pit or a lab to me, but full body shots from the front side and back in a standing position would be more useful. People here are so paranoid about pit bulls that they see them everywhere.

If I had to guess I would say a lab/pit mix.

Having said that, that assumed that a pure bred lab and a pure bred pitbull hooked up. Possible but not likely, there are probably several dog types in there.
Rescue groups and shelters will pick the 2 most dominant looking breeds and go with it ( as do most of us) the reality is though that its probably several breeds intermingled.

The feet are very pit. These can be sweet dogs if raised correctly and even a lab can maul if conditions are right. The biggest issue might be your municipality, HOA, or building. My stepson had a sweet, six month old pit mix puppy for all of four days before his building said she had to go. He didn’t even realize she was part pit. The building said it negates his insurance or something and he has 24 hours to rehome her. He and his roommates skipped classes and their internships to find her a new forever family. They get photos and she is still the sweetest thing at 4 years old.

Lab/pittie mix. But as far as your homeowners insurance, your vet, your friends and family...he is most definitely a lab mix. Just say lab mix. He is adorable!

Same thing happened to us. However your dog is probably half American Staffordshire terrier. Different temperament than a true American Pitbull Terrier. Beautiful dog you have there. Ours looks similar and is the least aggressive dog I’ve ever owned. Very smart and the short hair is great.

Adorable and beautiful. If you raise him/her right, he’ll be fine. You have him young and can make a big impression on him. Love him!!

Looks like my dog and she was half lab/half pitt. I had her since she was 6 weeks old, socialized and trained with formal training - not Petsmart. She lived to be 10 before she died of cancer. I had her when I was single and living alone in DC until I had 3 kids in the suburbs.

I know pitts have a horrible reputation but it really depends on the dog and the investment you put into it. As a puppy mine had dog walkers that took her out during the day and training with a former K9 officer. She also did doggy daycare and boarding at Little Rascals in the city. We would go on 3-5 mile runs on the weekend from our house to the Capitol or Monument. She also did short runs or long walks with me each evening. As she got older, these turned in to long (1 hour) walks. She was a wonderful dog, very patient and sweet with my children - the youngest was 6 months when she passed - but you have to be willing to make the investment in exercise and time.
