Lots of party guests canceling

Anonymous
We have hosted two parties the past two weekends and both had last minute cancellations due to being sick. I know 1-2 often get sick but it seems much higher this year.

Have others experienced people being more sick and canceling?

There’s a ton going around right now. Especially for guests who have kids, there is no reason to doubt illness.

Oh my word. My family just got over the WORST bout of vomiting. Trust me, you don’t want those families at your party.

More people are sick right now. They’re sicker than last year, it last longer and got more people. Stop throwing parties during flu season if you don’t want this to happen.

*rolls eyes* I hope you aren’t this dramatic in real life.

DD had 2 parties she wanted to go to, but we had to cancel. At this point she's gotten over most of it and just has a bit of a cough and sniffles, but espeically with all the news about corona virus, we wanted to be respectful of others and not make anyone worried.

My kids and I have never been as sick as this winter. We’ve cancelled on a ton and had events cancelled on us because host’s kids are sick.

It’s definitely a terrible cold and flu season. When you plan parties in the future perhaps adjust for 20% cancellations and be glad people aren’t showing up and spreading germs. People are dying, ya heard?!

Norovirus and ful this year.
We have been lucky, but mainly because we've decided to stay home more and not go out much on weekends. Not too surprised a lot of people are sick OP.

Then have cake at home. Invite two friends out for pizza, or to the movies. Scale back. Not everything has to be A Big Thing.

My family is pretty sick right now and we hardly ever get sick. I think there's a lot going around the country atm. (We aren't local to DC.)

NP, I get it. My kids both have a birthday in the next 45 days. We know some guests will get sick at the last minute. We also figure at least one sick person will show up anyway —just like any other gathering. Should we wait until May?

You hosted three parties back to back, every weekend? Sounds a bit much. They canceled because they are tired of you and something better came along
