Topsy Turvy tomato grower

Has anyone used this TV-marketed product? I would really like to grow tomatoes indoors this winter but don't want to waste moneyy if it doesn't work as advertised.

Have never used it but I too am interested in whether it works.

We just returned from Disney World, and in Epcot, they have a huge greenhouse that we toured and they have a large number of plants growing this way. It's amazing to see huge plants growing upside down, many with no soil at all. So it is in fact possible to grow this way, at least in greenhouse conditions; I just don't know whether the product you're talking about actually works in a home environment. I'd love to try it, though.

I had one this summer and did not have good luck with it - certainly not like you see in the ads. I did get some tomatoes, but they were mostly small. That said, I am not the most diligent gardener and I probably should have watered it more than I did. That said, when I did water it, the water often seeped right through and went out the bottom.

Earthboxes are really great. I used them last summer with success for lots of vegetables. You do have to water frequently (sometimes 2x per day) during peak heat / growth days.

Liz Crenshaw on Channel 4 news did one of her "Does It Really Do That?" exposes on the Topsy Turvy. The people who tested it out for her had great results. Their advice was to definitely do it and plant half tomatoes and half some other vegetable for a little variety. Good luck!
